MATERIAL EXPLORATION AND SAMPLES
Project Brief: On the first day of the interdisciplinary studio furniture and textile students were partnered up to explore creating structure in furniture with textiles, through a combination of unconventional and traditional techniques. At the end of the class, half of the pairs are selected to remake and refine their furniture pieces for Salone del Mobile Milan and ICFF.
My partner, Lauren Klein (TX ’18), and I created a chair that references the familiarity of suburban living using astroturf to reference Americana design in a contemporary and exaggerated fashion. We let our collaborative process inform our design conclusion. We were fortunate to be selected to remake our chair.
